Had quite a discussion with Toyota Service yesterday on the Smart Key Touch Sensor System. My sales person had told me when I received delivery of the Vehicle that if you have the key in your pocket the Venza will LOCK UP BY ITSELF. In the meantime the Service guy said - No Way you have to swipe your hand, squeeze the door handle, OR use the Key Fob. So I got the 2 people together and the Sales person was trying to tell the Service Person that when you walk away from the newer Camry's - they lock themselves, & that the Venza just needed to be PDI'd or programmed properly!! But Service said NO this doesn't happen with the Venza! Does anyone here know for sure? That is, will the Venza lock by itself by walking away as in the new Camrys or Prius's?

Techseller Yeah I think your likely correct. That would be a great feature, since a few years ago I forgot to use the keyfob to lock my previous car, and wouldn't you know it that was the one time my Maxima's change tray was removed with all the change and a couple of other items by someone walking down the backlane at night. I guess the person was looking for cars that had been left open. I wonder why this feature is in the Prius and Camry but not in the Venza?

1) My Prius didn't auto lock.
2) My Camry Hybrid doesn't auto lock.
3) My Venza does not auto lock but the alarm auto arms after 30 seconds which I'm not happy about.
Reason being, if you leave passengers in the car and it auto locks there is no way for them to exit and not set off the alarm.
It's a damned if you do damned if you don't situation.
