If I recall correctly I think it's just being help in by clips. Clips that are very stiff.

map light harness lost in ceiling

so today my 36 led plates came from v-leds and i went to install them. in my garage it was dark, and due to my dome lights running blue, it was quite hard to see. i installed the map lights by touch. for the first led, i mispushed and popped the thing that hold the bulb in my roof somewhere...

Thanks, seems like it should be easier, but that is unlikely. Thinking of changing lights to LED as well so double helpful.

Oh I'm glad it helped. They are in there good. I had a struggle with mine. I also did leds in mine but I put in 2 x 42smd led panels. I had to take my housings out to stick the panels in

Those covers can be a PITA to get off. I used a plastic trim removal tool and a very small flat head screwdriver.

 

I just slid the clip of my mic over the end of the headliner behind the mirror. Easy to tuck the wire up in the headliner as well. At the 'A' post I pulled the inner weather stripping back and tucked the wire right in, no need to remove trim piece.

 

I took the map light out and drilled a hole just slightly smaller than the mic head where the factory one would have gone. Then I took out the visor and retaining clip to loosen the headliner and snaked it across and down the inside of the weather stripping.

Youll have to take a very small and very thin flat head screwdriver to slowly and very gently pry at about where the 3 little stripes are( middle of the clear plastic area to where it meets the harder outter shell ) . The clear plastic will have a small tab on the right and left sides...and one in the front end.........Once you get the clear plastic cover off youll need to get the bulb out and you should see the phillips screw that needs to be removed and then you can remove the entire housing piece.

So there was no screws, it was metal clips. I bought an inexpensive set of trim removal tools. There are 4 clips on the front and back.
