The actual catalytic converter is part of the header - nearly impossible to steal on the fly.

The GPF which may be mistaken by thieves as the cat is visible underneath the car but the car is also pretty low stock so it may be more a deterrent than something with a higher ride height such as an suv or truck.

 

There is also a converter underneath the car. It's a secondary unit to further clean up emissions.

 

I only drive my Corolla to Houston, which is one of the worst cities in terms of petty crime like cat theft. So far nobody attempted to steal the cat, too many trucks and SUV as low hanging fruit, it's safe, no shield needed

 

Car sitting "low" doesn't matter. Scum bring a hydraulic floor jack.

I paid for the upgraded Stainless Steel one for our Gen2 Prius (2004-2009), after scum stolen it on driveway.

Nothing yet for Corolla, Venza, Camry, etc....

 

Ya, the Corolla, particularly non-hybrid, is pretty low on the list of desirable cats to steal.
Hybrids contain far more of the valuable metals they are after, and crossovers are higher off the ground.

Cat is part of exhaust manifold... Downstream O2 sensor (cat monitor) is downstream of cat, and upstream of GPF.

If somebody tries to take it, call the cops. I had the cat stolen off my Prius. Not cheap to replace, but cheaper than getting cut up trying to stop the thief.

Maybe i don't get it .. i know the dumb ass thieves will steal your GPF thinking its a cat, but this plate once again only covers the GPF - the Catalytic Converter is literally un-stealable on the fly - it's between the engine & firewall...

 

Regardless of whether it's a cat or gpf, it's going to suck when you walk out to go to work at 5am, have an important meeting, and find that some idiot has stolen it and you have no transportation.
