You can turn the DRL headlights off in the radio, but the tails and side markers are on along with the Js. Unless you’re talking about only having the Js on all the time. Then that would need some rewire magic.

 

In Canadian models, DRL is not an option in both the radio and TechStream. Under Light Control, DRL is not even there.


I really like the idea of of the triple Js as DRL and it seems to me it is controlled by the ECU.

 

 

Would be nice to have the J's on without having to switch to DRL mode.

 

The J led lights would be nicer if it were brighter.

 

Agreed. They're pretty useless if the sun is out.



I too turned off DRL in Entune and experimented with just running the parking lights. The nice thing is that they auto shut off when you get out of the car, so you can leave them in the parking light setting all the time (except at night of course).

 

I even tried to de-pin the DRL at the headlight and all it does is disable the "low" setting in the headlight. There is no way for Canadian to disable DRL unless a US ECU is put in since flashing is not even possible.

 

You maybe able to do it through Toyotas link cable. Can't remember exactly what it's called, but the generic is like $30 on ebay. It'll allow you access to things like key fob window operation, warning buzzers for seat belts/doors/etc.

 

Like the honda's I'm sure in entune or ECU some tech at the dealership can do some code magic

 

Just a thought, is the DRL's on the 2017 Corolla's the same size as the bottom DRL's (Sedan)?

 

How come on the Canadian LE models the J lights don't work? Only XLE , SE OR XSE.
Why have them in the l headlight assembly and don't wire them up

 

I think if it's there, it should work. I noticed if you leave the light at Auto and it only turns on when it's dark.

I don't own an LE and you may have to test the same car at the dealer.

 

I've never heard of jay lights and I'd like to know what they are.

 

Just accent lights on some higher ends Corolla variant, nicknamed "J" because of their shape.
