Non-Pano Roof lights

Tools:
1 - Plastic Pry tool

Bulbs:
4 - 194 LED Bulbs
1 - DE3175 LED bulbs (rear hatch)

These are the bulbs I used. Any quality 194 or DE3175 bulb will work. DE3175 in 30mm length are recommended. I used 31mm and they were tight fit, but worked. It’s recommended to use 28mm bulbs as they fit correctly in the cargo area. The 31mm length ones I used are linked below. Some had issues installing these it seems so 28mm is the recommended.

** The MAP lights are not replaceable and are already led. **

Rear Hatch Bulb

1. Get your bulb and pry tool.

2. Turn off the lights from the front overhead console in the car. Leaving them on like this will make them hot.

305688

3. Use the pry tool, in the little indents and pry the plastic away from the dark grey area.

305689

4. Remove the OEM bulb by bending the right metal tab away from the bulb.

305691

6. Install new bulb by inserting point of bulb on the left side into that hole then raise the right side up while bending the tab out some. And it'll lock in place. Rotate the bulb so its facing straight out.
305692

7. Reinstall plastic cover back on, bottom first then snap top in.

Done with rear hatch. Next Reply will be the Other bulbs.

Back Seat Lights on 2020 Platinum with Pana roof.

Tools:
1 - Plastic Pry Tool

Bulb: 2 - 194 size LED bulb

1. Insert Pry tool at edge of clear plastic and not above the grey plastic mount. You have to split them apart. It is hard to see so make sure its between them.

305694

2. Twist it to pop it out. Remove the bulb by pulling straight out.

305695

3. Install new LED bulb and test. Flip it if it doesn't turn on.

305696

6. Snap the cover back on with the button side first.

5. Do the same for the other side.

Can’t really answer that since I transferred the bulbs to my new highlander from my 4Runner. But you can add it all up. Most of those bulbs are off while you drive so it won’t help much for efficiency.

They probably are as my 4Runner had the same ones. I forgot about those till a few days ago I saw them. I need to order some more bulbs.

These light are definitely not LED. I replaced all the lights except for these two and they are yellow compared to the LEDs I replaced. The instrument cluster has to be removed and Toyota dealer will not tell you how to do this so they can charge you a fee for doing it themselves.

Those can’t be replaced. They are already led.

You are correct! I had said that they were not LEDs due to their color, but they are LEDs, just the yellowish soft white kind. The only way to replace them is have a professional install new "daylight" LEDs on the circut board.
Sorry for my earlier post saying they were not LEDs, they are, and I found out the hard way.

#17 ·
There are led chips built into the circuit board inside the housing and each light have two pegs that work like a tunnel pointing at the led chips. I should have taken some pictures when I took that thing apart.

Are they just surface mount LED?
Any chance you could take photos?
Or maybe at least find a pic of a similar LED (SMD) online?
They could be easily replaceable if you got into it fairly easy far enough to see the boards. :)
This is awesome news for me! :)

UPDATE:
Do they look like this?

Front bottom door lights

Tools:
1 - small flat head screwdriver or small plastic pry tool
1 - Small Towel

Bulb: 2 - 194 size LED bulb (I used Lasfit 194 bulbs which were a bit brighter than the others I had, but they are more expensive too) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0821GVXB3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

1. Open door.
2. Use pry tool and push it into the right side of the light between the clear plastic and the door. Pry it out on that side enough where you can grab it with your hand and pull the right side out first then slide the left out of the door.

306697

306698

3. Disconnect the cable by pushing in the tab on the connector and pulling.

4. Remove grey plastic housing from clear reflector by inserting a flat head screwdriver into the slot and lifting it up while pressing from the bottom of the grey plastic towards the screw driver so it releases and slides out.

306699

5. Once out, remove the dome shaped cover off the light by sliding it off.

6. Insert new 194 LED bulb

306700

7. Reassemble dome, and clear cover back on.

8. Reconnect light to verify bulb works, if not, flip bulb around and try again.

9. Done.

You can see the 4 notches on those on the tops and bottoms. That is where you need to pop them loose from usually. If it's like my 4Runner, whatever the not moving side is, is the side that I had a easier time prying out from.

#21 ·
I need a beefier tool to get in there, so for now I tried to do the rear hatch instead.

I got the same bulbs as you, but I struggle to fit the bulb in there. How did you it? The ends are much bulkier than the OEM bulbs.

I pushed too hard and wound up moving some plastic housing behind the bulb up into the roof more, so I had to use my pry tool to pull it back down. I can't get the bulb in.

It’s only a hair wider. You slide the side in first that doesn’t move where the bulb sits into the hole then work the side up that does bend out into place when it hits the hole it’ll stop. Was very simple and easy to install.

A couple of questions for you?
Have you confirmed the front map lights are LED? There are a couple of sites that indicate they are bulbs inside that console area.
Have you (or anyone reading this) pulled down that console that has the map lights?
Regardless even if they are LED they are replaceable sort of. They probably are just surface mount LED or even maybe modular.
My 2006 Scion TC had orange LEDs in the Gauge cluster and I replaced all like 40 with white LEDs. While that was a task it was not extremely difficult.

Could someone with skills at trim fixing/mods etc pull this down and see what is inside?
If not I will do it when I get mine.

Another member here took his apart and already mentioned they are part of an assembly and not a replaceable bulb. I am sure if they are LEDs on a board, they can be replaced, as I have done electronics for years, but most here can't just do that, and swap them.

The whole unit pulls down like the new RAV4 with 4 panel clips on the roof. The wire plug release is on the top, you'll have to feel for it to release the plug. I think I took the center piece out first then the outer trim. Don't touch the sunglasses holder if my memory serves me right, it comes out with the outer trim. The trim pieces are held in with Y "fork" clips. I found the right size flat head screw driver, but what you need is a tool that will separate the fork apart and push down at the same time to release the clips.

I'm returning my hatch bulbs. I just don't see how this is supposed to fit. I've tried countless times and only wound up scratching and nearly breaking other things.

I've gotten the left side up in the hole every time, but the right side that makes contact with the metal bendy tab never fits.

I just did all of my bulbs, went with Warm White color to match built in map lights and it turned out perfect match. As for dome that bulb 30mm fits snugly, just push the tab back some more and it'll catch just enough to stay in place. It doesn't help that ends of your LED are rounded you might need different brand. G.L.

Which brand did you go with for warm white that matched? I originally wanted to swap all the interior lights but I don’t want to go through the hassle of the center map lights, and I refuse to not have the lights match. I just need a brighter cargo light.
