I need to pull 2 thick wires from the engine compartment through the firewall into the cabin.
Anybody do this yet? I saw some posts on this subject but I think it was for older model Camrys.
A picture of where I should go into the firewall would be helpful.

Remote Radar Detector Install

FYI, yesterday I installed a remote radar detector in back of my grill on my 07 LE and had to find a way to get the wires inside the car to the fuse box and control unit of the detector. I found that running the wires inside the inner fenders to the rubber door grommet was the easiest. The only obstacle was the styrofoam insulation between the door and the front fender. I ran 3 wires that way on the drivers side with a wire coat hanger wrapped with tape to prevent scratches and snaked the wires through that way. I have the 4 cyl and there is no easy way to get through the firewall on the drivers side, there is a grommet that goes through on the passenger side but that was way out my way and I didn't feel like tearing apart my glove box and duct work to run the wire that way. I takes time but with patience it can be done through the fender and into the rubber grommet (right by the door hinges). just make sure you seal the grommet to prevent leakage. Hope this helps.

Interesting, anyone else find any other alternatives?
I got thru a grommet on the drivers side. No problem.

I just installed a bass tube in my ride. I had a 10 guage wire and I had to make a hole to run the wire by the passanger side because i didn't see much of a place on the driver side that I can stick my huge ass hands into. If you take the plastic piece thats under the wipers (I call it the drainer cause it has holes for hte water to go thru). When you take it off, you'll see an openingon the passenger side and thats the vent for the Air to flow thru the cabin. Now u gotta picture like I'm saying it or else its not gonna sound right. If you're looking at the vent, I drilled a hole on the left side of it and pushed the wire thru that. It came out right behind the glove compartment. I killed 2 birds with one stone cause I then hooked up the remote wire since I was there and there was no need to take apart two sides.

but thats for a 10 guage wire. not sure how big ur wires are. so look before you drill anything.

On that same big grommet that your talking about on the passenger side right behind the glove box, you'll notice nipples on the grommet, if you cut the tip of the nipple, you can run the wire through the nipple nicely and it will also act like a seal... (Ouch sounds painfull though...)
